TYWYN:
Tywyn is a smaller, quieter version of Barmouth , it has all the
facilities necessary for a family beach holiday with excellent
access to the Talyllyn and Dysynni valley which are excellent
for picnics or leisurely walks.
Tywyn
is probably best known for the Talyllyn Railway - this line was
opened for passengers in 1867 and has been preserved using some
very old engines along a track that follows Tal y Llyn lake and
back again. The ride takes about two hours to complete and has
numerous shops and site worthy of interest along the way for all
the family, including the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.
At
the church of St Cadfan can be seen the earliest example of written
Welsh on a gravestone and is very interesting architecturally.
