BALA:
The town of Bala sits on the edge of Llyn Tegid and is a major
water-sports centre with a modest sidline in remote walks to little
visited hills. The lake is the largest natural lake in Wales and
is particularly popular with windsurfers and canoeists and is
popular in all weathers because of the strong current driving
up the lake.
Bala
became important in the woolen industry and with socks of all
things, then it became a stronghold of Nonconformism and still
has ties to the movement with the Welsh baptist College which
was founded in the town.
