Trefignath
megalithic tomb
This is again a multi period structure and its reconstruction
after excavation attempts to show its complex development in three
stages. First, a small, much ruined, chamber was erected at the
west end. It was later incorporated into a long mound with its
own impressive chamber at its easr facing end. This was entered
from a forecourt. Finally, an extension was built to the east
of the and a new chamber built into the forecourt area of the
stage two structure. The total length of the mound is 23m. A hearth
below the tomb provided a carbon 14 date of 3500 BC for the site.
